U1S1: Prophets Told About Jesus
God’s plan to save people from sin and death was not a secret plan. God used the prophets to give hope to His people. They said God would send a Messiah—born into the world as a baby to live the perfect life people fail to live and die the guilty death we deserve.
U1S2: Angels Told the Good News
The baby Jesus fulfilled Isaiah’s prophecy, as well as other Old Testament prophecies, about the coming Savior. Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus fulfilled God’s plan of redemption that God planned from the beginning of the world.
U1S3: Jesus Was Born
The birth of Jesus was good news! Jesus was not an ordinary baby. He is God’s Son, sent to earth from heaven. Jesus came into the world to save people from sin and to be our King.
U1S4: Simeon Saw Baby Jesus
Throughout the Old Testament, God promised the arrival of a king who would redeem God’s people. When Jesus arrived, Simeon knew He was the promised Messiah. Today, we have faith that Jesus is God’s Son. We can trust Jesus for our salvation.
U2S1: Jesus’ Family Went to the Temple
Jesus went to the temple to worship. He is God’s Son, and He came to do God’s work. Jesus taught people, suffered, died on the cross for our sins, and rose from the dead so that we too can worship God.
U2S2: Jesus Read the Scroll
Hundreds of years before Jesus was born, the prophet Isaiah wrote about God’s plan to send a Messiah. He would bring good news and redeem people who were broken and hurting. Jesus read Isaiah’s words and told everyone who was listening that He is the promised Messiah.
U2S3: Jesus Fed the People
By feeding the 5,000, Jesus provided for the physical needs of the crowd. The next day, Jesus called Himself the bread of life. (John 6:35) Only Jesus is able to satisfy our souls by providing forgiveness, friendship with God, and eternal life.
U2S4: Jesus Walked on Water
Jesus proved that He can be trusted. His miracles, teaching, death, and resurrection showed that He is who He says He is. Only Jesus can save us when we look to Him in faith.
U2S5: Jesus Healed Ten Men
Not only did Jesus have the power to make the men clean, He was willing to make them clean. Like the skin disease, sin deeply affects all people and makes them spiritually dead. Jesus willingly died on the cross and rose from the dead to save us from our sin and give us new life.
U3S1: A Family Cared for Its Baby
God saved Moses for a special purpose: to rescue His people. God sent Jesus for a greater rescue: Jesus came to earth to save God’s people from their sin. Moses and Jesus both obeyed God’s commands in order to carry out His plan of salvation. Moses delivered God’s people from physical captivity; Jesus delivered God’s people from captivity to sin.
U3S2: Esau Forgave Jacob
Esau forgave Jacob for taking the blessing of the firstborn. Jesus is the firstborn over all creation. (Colossians 1:15) When Jesus hung on the cross, He gave up His blessing for us. Jesus took the punishment we deserve so that the Father would give us the blessing Jesus deserves.
U3S3: Hannah’s Family Worshiped God
Hannah and her family always worshiped God. God listened to Hannah’s prayer for a son, and Samuel was born. Samuel used God’s words to tell the people what God is like. Jesus showed the world what God is like, and He tole people to turn away from their sin. Jesus freed people from the power of sin by dying on the cross and rising again.
U3S4: Elizabeth and Zechariah Obeyed
God sent John to be the last prophet before Jesus. John would tell people about the coming Savior. John’s job was to remind the people what God had said in the past and to get the people ready to meet Jesus.
