I believe worship is central to the mood of the service and it sets the tone for the sermon. Lots of work goes into preparing a worship service to make the proper songs at the proper time and those people need to be thanked.
I’d like to preface my comment by saying I am not a staff member or employee of a church. I find it remarkable that none of the respondents of the survey found the act of giving as drawing them into worship or closer to God. I did a personal word study of the word worship in the OT and NT previously, which brought me to the conclusion that worship is an act of our submission both outwardly and inwardly when being faced with the presence of God. All the other items on the survey list help us to be drawn into a greater awareness of the presence of God and possibly an inward submission, but giving is the only one that outwardly demonstrates our submission, and if it is matched by an inward submission which makes the gift acceptable to God, it most completely illustrates worship as an act of surrender in response to the movement of God in our life that manifests in giving of ourselves to God out of gratitude, love, and for His glory.
