1s & 2s— Use Play Dough
Bible Story: The Early Church Chose Helpers Acts 6:1-7
Life Point: People at church help others.
Weekly Verse: Encourage one another to love and do good works. Hebrews 10:24
Materials: Teaching Picture 11, play dough, cookie cutters, small rolling pins (optional)
- Display the Teaching Picture on a table with the play dough. Give each child a lump of play dough. Encourage preschoolers to flatten he play dough and cut it with the cookie cutters.
- Tell the Bible story as the preschoolers play. Show the special men in the Teaching Picture. Comment that the men were chosen to help people in the church.
- Talk about people at your church who help others.
- Social Distancing Tip: Limit the number of preschoolers who can do this activity. Use fresh play dough for each child. Disinfect the cookie cutters and rolling pins after children use them.
3–Pre-K— Work Food Puzzles

Materials: Teaching Picture 11, various puzzles featuring food
- Display the Teaching Picture near the puzzles.
- Invite boys and girls to work the puzzles. Tell the Bible story as the children work.
- Show the Teaching Picture and point to the seven men. Remind the children that the men made sure the widows had enough food to each.
- Pray, thanking God for helpers at church that serve others.
- Social Distancing Tip: Allow only two children at a time to work the puzzles. Disinfect the puzzles after each child.
Kindergarten— Work in a Pretend Food Pantry

Materials: Teaching Picture 12, boxes, empty food containers, play food
- Tell the Bible story as kids join the activity. Show the Teaching Picture and comment that the seven men were chosen to help the widows have enough food.
- Suggest that kids could pretend to work in a food pantry and pack boxes of food for people who need it. Remark that many churches have a food pantry that helps people.
- Talk about people in your church who help and serve others.
- Social Distancing Tip: Allow only two children at a time to handle the food or containers. Disinfect after each child’s use.
