1s & 2s— Walk on a Tape Path
Bible Story: Philip Told a Man About Jesus Acts 8:26-40
Life Point: People use the Bible to tell about Jesus.
Weekly Verse: Philip told the good news about Jesus. Acts 8:35
Materials: Bible, Teaching Picture 11, masking tape
- Use the masking tape to make a path on the floor that travels around the room. Place the Bible and teaching picture at different places on the path.
- Lead two or three children on the path. When you come to the Bible, open it and say the Weekly Verse. Comment that Philip helped the man understand the Bible.
- When you come to the teaching picture, point to Philip and the Ethiopian and tell the Bible story.
3–Pre-K— Play a Beanbag Game

Materials: Bible (with pictures), four colors of construction paper, tape, marker, beanbag
- Cut one 3-by-9-inch strip from each sheet of construction paper to make four 9-by-9-inch squares. Tape the four squares together to make a large square gameboard.
- Place the strips in the Bible, marking pictures of Jesus’ stories. Lay the gameboard on the floor. Sit on the floor and hold the Bible.
- As children show interest in the activity, invite them to listen to the Bible story. Comment that Philip helped the man understand the Bible; he used the Bible to tell about Jesus.
- Give one child the beanbag and encourage him to toss it onto the gameboard. Help him open the Bible to the matching strip. Talk about the Bible story pictured.
Kindergarten—Drive Cars on Roads

Materials: Teaching Picture 11, toy cars, colored masking tape, blocks
- Lay the teaching picture with the cars, masking tape, and blocks. Invite boys and girls to build a town with the blocks and add tape road on which to drive the cars.
- Talk about the Bible story as they play. Say that Philip found the man riding in a chariot on a road; Philip helped the man understand the Bible. Comment that people use the Bible to tell about Jesus.
- Show the teaching picture as the kids continue to build and drive cars. Encourage them to point to Philip and the Ethiopian in the picture.
