Bible Story: David and Goliath 1 Samuel 17:1-50
Life Point: God shows people what to do.
Weekly Verse: God, You are great, and no one is like You. 2 Samuel 7:22
Materials: Bible, Teaching Picture 13, cardboard blocks
- Lay the Bible and teaching picture near the blocks.
- As preschoolers begin to play with the blocks, open the Bible and tell the Bible story. Say that God helped David know how to fight Goliath.
- Play a game with the children, telling them to stack a block each time you say a word of the Weekly Verse.
3–Pre-K— Build Sheep Pens

Materials: Teaching Picture 13, wooden blocks, sheep figures, wooden blocks
- Lay the Teaching Picture near the blocks.
- Invite kids to play with the sheep figures and the blocks. Suggest that they could build pens to keep the sheep in.
- Talk about the Bible story as kids play. Comment that David took care of sheep, but left the sheep to help his father and brothers. Then God helped David know how to fight Goliath.
- Say the Weekly Verse together.
Kindergarten— Make a Mobile

Materials: Bible, large geometric shapes cut from different colors of construction paper, markers or gel pens, hole punch, yarn, wooden or plastic embroidery hoops
- Mark the Weekly Verse in the Bible with a paper shape. Print the Life Point and the Weekly Verse on separate papers. Cut yarn into 12- to 15-inch lengths.
- Briefly tell the Bible story as kids show interest in the activity. Comment that God helped David know how to defeat Goliath.
- Read the Life Point and the Weekly Verse from the papers. Tell kids they can make a mobile using the paper shapes. Guide kids to print one or two words of either the Life Point or Weekly Verse on separate shapes. Kids can punch a hole in each shape and tie a length of yarn in the hole. Assist in laying the other ends of the yarn across one part of the hoop. Add two more pieces of yarn for a hanger. After you assemble the two hoops, tie together the ends of the yarn.
- Encourage kids to put the mobile in their rooms to remind them that no one is like God.
