Bible Story: John Told About Jesus Matthew 3
Life Point: People tell about Jesus, God’s Son.
Weekly Verse: God loved the world and sent His Son. John 3:16
Materials: Teaching Picture 6, large clear container of water, dropcloth, two towels, variety of bowls and cups
- Put a few inches of water in the container. Place a towel on the dropcloth and the container on the towel. Put the Teaching Picture between the towel and container where preschoolers can see it as they play. Lay the second towel nearby to use for drying hands.
- Talk about the Bible story as the preschoolers scoop and pour the water. Call attention to the teaching picture under the container. Comment that John told important news about Jesus. Say the Weekly Verse as the preschoolers play.
3–Pre-K— Record Voices

Materials: digital recorder or cell phone
- Invite a few children to sit with you as you tell the Bible story.
- Record each child saying the Weekly Verse or “Jesus is the Son of God.”
- Continue until all children who are interested have recorded their voices.
- Play the recordings for the group and ask the boys and girls to guess whose voice they hear. Comment that people tell about Jesus, God’s Son.
Kindergarten— Make Postcards

Materials: Teaching Picture 6, cardstock, markers or gel pens, colorful circle stickers, paper
- Cut the cardstock into fourths to make postcards. Print on the paper several statements that the boys and girls can copy. You could print something like Jesus loves you, Jesus is the Son of God, and the Weekly Verse.
- When children come to the center, point to the teaching picture and tell the Bible story.
- Comment that one way to tell about Jesus is to send a card to someone. Guide them to write a statement and decorate one side of a card with the markers, pens, and stickers.
- Ask the boys and girls to each pick a person to whom they would like to send the card. Offer to mail the cards during the next week.
