1s & 2s— Draw with Crayons
Bible Story: Jesus Visited Mary and Martha Luke 10:38-42
Life Point: Jesus taught that learning about Him is important.
Weekly Verse: Jesus taught people about God. Mark 1:14
Materials: Bible, Teaching Picture 5, paper, crayons
- Arrange the materials on a table. Open the Bible to Luke 10.
- Give a child a piece of paper and urge him to choose a crayon. As he draws, hold the Bible and tell the Bible story. Say the Weekly Verse.
- Comment that Mary made a choice to listen to Jesus; Jesus said that learning about Him is important.
3–Pre-K— Play a Friends Game

Materials: Bible, Teaching Picture 5, poster board, colored heavyweight paper, scissors, markers, tray
- Make a gameboard by tracing several handprints on the poster board. All should be the same size, but oriented differently. Cut out handprints of the same size from the colored paper. Make enough for each child, plus some extra. Print each child’s name on a colored handprint and leave some blank.
- Invite children to match the colored handprints to the gameboard. Help children find their own and friends’ names.
- Talk about the Bible story as children play. Point to the Teaching Picture as you tell the story. Say that Jesus helped His friends know that learning about Him is important.
Kindergarten— Make Friendship Bracelets

Materials: Teaching Picture 5, colored pony beads, chenille stems
- Display the Teaching Picture as kids join the activity. Lead the kids to comment on what is happening in the picture.
- Invite each child to make a bracelet for herself and a friend by stringing bead onto a chenille stem. Remind them to leave about 1 inch at each end to twist together.
- Tell the Bible story as kids make their bracelets. Recall that in the picture, Martha was busy working, but Mary was sitting and listening to Jesus; Mary was learning about Jesus by spending time with Him.
- Help kids twist together the ends of their bracelets. Tell kids they can show love for Jesus by continuing to learn about Him.
