Materials: Teaching Picture 4, puzzles featuring people
- Lay the Teaching Picture near the puzzles.
- As a child works a puzzle, talk to her about the people who love and care for her.
- Point to the Teaching Picture and talk about the Bible story. Comment that Jesus taught that God always loves.
3–Pre-K—Work Bible Verse Puzzles

Weekly Verse: We know God loves us. 1 John 4:16
Materials: Bible, 2 strips of paper, cardstock, permanent marker
- Mark the Weekly Verse and the Unit Verse for today in the Bible with strips of paper. Print the two verses onto separate pieces of cardstock. Make a copy of each paper. Laminate each paper.
- Cut one of each of the verses into four or five pieces to make a puzzle. Display the marked Bible with the puzzles.
- Invite a child to work a puzzle. Children can work the puzzles using the whole sheets as a guide.
- Open the Bible and show children the verses in the Bible. Talk about the Bible story. Tell children that Jesus taught that God always loves.
Kindergarten—Draw Self-Portraits

Weekly Verse: We know God loves us. 1 John 4:16
Materials: paper, markers, nonbreakable mirrors
- Invite boys and girls to use the supplies to draw their self-portraits. Encourage them to look into the mirror and draw what they see.
- Talk about the Bible story as children draw. Comment that Jesus’ story about the son explained about God always loves.
