Preschool: Jesus, the Great Teacher: Session 3—Jesus Healed a Woman (March 15)

February 18, 2020 By William Summey 1 Comment

1s & 2s—Talk on Telephones

Bible Story: Jesus Healed a Woman Luke 13:10-17
Life Point: Jesus taught people are important to God.
Weekly Verse: God cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

Materials: Bible, Weekly Verses (Pack Item 14), toy telephone

  • Mark today’s Weekly Verse in the Bible. Place the Bible near the telephones.
  • Pick up a telephone and say: “God cares for you.” Hand the phone to a preschooler and encourage her to speak the same words into the phone.
  • Talk about the Bible story as the children play with the phone. Comment that Jesus taught that people are important to God.

3–Pre-K—Build a Bible Times Town

Bible Story: Jesus Healed a Woman Luke 13:10-17
Life Point: Jesus taught people are important to God.
Weekly Verse: God cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

Materials: Bible, blocks, small boxes, cardboard pieces, picture of Bible Times House (Read to Me Bible for Kids or Illustrated Bible Dictionary for Kids)

  • Display the picture near the blocks, boxes, and cardboard.
  • Invite preschoolers to build with the materials. Suggest they build a town.
  • Tell the Bible story as they build. Say that Jesus was in a city in the synagogue, a place like a church; he healed the woman to show that people are important to God.

Kindergarten—Paint Handprints

Bible Story: Jesus Healed a Woman Luke 13:10-17
Life Point: Jesus taught people are important to God.
Weekly Verse: God cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

Materials: Paint in cups, paintbrushes, painting smocks, paper, markers or gel pens, water and soap for washing hands

  • If you do not have a place to wash hands, provide a dishpan with soapy water and paper towels for cleaning hands after painting.
  • Invite a kindergartner to paint his hand and press his painted hand onto a sheet of paper. He can make several handprints on his paper. Tell him to wash his hands before continuing.
  • Talk about the Bible story. Mention that Jesus taught people are special to God. Help each child print a few words on his paper near the handprints that reflect how he is special to God.
