1s & 2s— Find Shells in Sand
Bible Story: Jesus and the Fishermen John 21:1-19
Life Point: Jesus wants people to know about Him.
Weekly Verse: Go and tell others about Jesus. Mark 16:15
Materials: Teaching Picture 8, container of sand, large seashells, drop cloth
- Bury the seashells in the sand. Place the container on the drop cloth on the floor. Lay the Teaching Picture nearby.
- Invite preschoolers to dig in the sand to find something. When a child finds a shell, identify it as a seashell.
- Comment that Jesus and His friends had breakfast by the sea: Jesus told His friends to tell others about Him.
3–Pre-K— Make Toast

Materials: Teaching Picture 8, “Allergy Alert” (Printables), bread, soft butter, cinnamon and sugar in a shaker, plastic knives, small paper plates, napkins, toaster oven
- Post the allergy alert to inform parents of the activity. Put the toaster oven out of children’s reach.
- Give each child a piece of bread and guide him to spread butter on the bread and then sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
- Talk about the Bible story as children wait for the bread to toast. Show the Teaching Picture. Mention that Jesus and His friends ate fish and bread for breakfast. Say that Jesus told His friends to tell others about Him.
- Say the Weekly Verse together as the children enjoy their toast.
Kindergarten—Make a Verse Banner
Bible Story: Jesus Returned to Heaven Acts 1:4-11
Life Point: Jesus is in heaven with God.
Weekly Verse: Jesus went up into heaven. Acts 1:9
Materials: Teaching Picture 8, light-colored construction paper, markers, stickers
- Print the Weekly Verse on a paper for kids to copy.
- Let each child choose a color of paper for his banner. Direct kids to print the Weekly Verse in the center of their papers. They can decorate around the verse using markers and stickers.
- Tell the Bible story as the kids work. Point to the Teaching Picture and explain that Jesus went back to heaven to be with God.
- When a child is finished, help her punch two hole in the top of her paper and tie one end of a yarn piece in each hold. Encourage kids to hang their banners at home to remind them that Jesus is in heaven with God.
