Kindergarten— Graph Favorite Breads
Bible Story: Jesus Fed the People John 6:1-13
Life Point: Jesus helped people because He is God’s Son.
Weekly Verse: Jesus said, “I came to do God’s work.” John 6:38
Materials: 12-by-18-inch sheet of construction paper; marker; small sticky notes; pencil; paper plates; plastic knife; four different kinds of bread such as white bread, wheat bread, flat bread, and bagels
- Draw a chart on the paper. Print each kind of bread at the top, dividing the paper into columns for the types of bread. Put each kind of bread on a separate plate, cutting each into smaller pieces.
- Invite kindergartners to sample the bread. Suggest tasting each kind. Then each child can write his name on a sticky note and attach it to graph under the kind of bread he likes best. Allow kids to vote for more than one kind.
- Talk about the Bible story as kids sample the bread. Remind them that Jesus helped and fed over 5000 people with only two fish and five loaves of bread. Mention that Jesus helped people because He is God’s Son.
