1s & 2s—Toss Beanbags
Bible Story: A Baby for Elizabeth Luke 2:5-25,57-80
Life Point: God prepared for Jesus’ birth.
Weekly Verse: Elizabeth will have a son and name him John. Luke 1:13
Materials: Bible, Teaching Picture 1, several beanbags
- Lay the Teaching Picture and Bible on the floor.
- Invite a preschooler to toss a beanbag onto the Teaching Picture or the Bible. Whichever one he chooses, ask him to bring it to you.
- Point to the people in the Teaching Picture as you talk about the Bible story. Mention that God planned for Elizabeth’s baby to prepare for Jesus.
- Open the Bible to Luke 1:13 and say the Bible verse. Point to John’s name in the Bible.
- Social Distancing Tip: Put the Teaching Picture in a gallon ziplock bag. Clean the bag and Bible cover after each child touches it.
3–Pre-K—Play with Road Signs and Cars

Materials: Bible, simple road signs, toy cars, wooden blocks
- If needed, make your own road signs. Draw, or print from the computer, simple road signs the children will recognize. Tape the signs to small blocks or cardboard tubes.
- Invite boys and girls to build roads with the blocks. They can add the signs and drive the cars.
- Open the Bible to Luke 1 and tell the Bible story as the children play. Comment that God’s plan for John was to prepare the way for Jesus. Say the Weekly Verse together.
- Social Distancing Tip: Limit the number of children playing in the center. Disinfect the cars and signs during play.
Kindergarten—Stamp the Bible Verse

Materials: Bible, Teaching Picture 1, paper, markers, letter stamps, washable stamp pads
- Print the words and the reference for the Weekly Verse on a sheet of paper. Display the paper on a table with the other supplies.
- Read the verse to a child when she comes to the center. Encourage her to stamp the letters of the verse on a paper. She may also use markers to decorate her paper and write her name.
- Open the Bible and tell the Bible story as the kids work. Show the Teaching Picture and point to each person from the story. Tell the boys and girls that God prepare for Jesus birth by sending John.
- Social Distancing Tip: Limit this activity to two children at a time. Disinfect the letters after use. Give each child her own bag of markers to use for the session.
