1s & 2s— Paint Bricks with Water
Bible Story: Solomon and the People Worshiped God 1 Kings 6; 8
Life Point: God wants people to praise and worship Him.
Weekly Verse: We will tell about the mighty things God has done. Psalm 145:4
Materials: Teaching Picture 9, drop cloth, two bricks, small bowls of water, paintbrushes, plastic smocks
- Spread the drop cloth on the floor. Position the bricks in the center of the cloth. Place the Teaching Picture on the floor nearby.
- Help preschoolers put on smocks before painting. Give each a paintbrush and water. Talk about the Bible story as preschoolers paint.
- Point to the Teaching Picture. Remark that the workers probably used bricks similar to these to build the temple. The people were happy to have a place to worship God.
3–Pre-K— Build the Temple

Materials: Teaching Picture 9, wooden blocks
- Lay the picture next to the wooden blocks. As children show interest in building with the blocks, tell the Bible story.
- Point to the temple in the picture. Remark that many people worked to build the temple for many years; the people were happy to have a place to worship. Say that God wants people to praise and worship Him.
- Encourage the children to stack blocks to resemble the temple. Lead the children to say the Weekly Verse together.
Kindergarten— Illustrate Ways to Worship

Materials: Teaching Picture 9, white paper, markers, gel pens, colored pencils
- As kids come to the table, show the Teaching Picture and tell the Bible story. Talk about the different ways the people worshiped: praying, singing, listening to Scripture, and giving.
- Give each kid a sheet of paper. Show kids how to fold the paper, then fold again. When the paper is unfolded, kids should be able to see four sections. Tell kids to draw a different way to worship in each section. Encourage each kid to write the Life Point across the tops of his paper.
- As kids finish, encourage them to share their pictures with the other kids.
