1s & 2s— Set the Table
Bible Story: A Widow’s Oil Multiplied 2 Kings 4:1-7
Life Point: God provides for His people.
Weekly Verse: God knows what you need. Matthew 6:8
Materials: toy dishes, 12-by-18-inch construction paper, marker
- Trace around the dishes on the paper to make placemats. Put the placemats on a table near the dishes.
- Invite 1s and 2s to set the table. Talk about what kinds of foods they like to eat.
- Comment that God helped the woman have enough oil for her family and God helps her family have food to eat.
- Thank God for providing what we need.
3–Pre-K— Build Places to Buy Food

Materials: Teaching Picture 11, logos of restaurants and grocery stores cut from paper advertisements or the internet, tape, wooden blocks
- Tape the signs to blocks and stand them in the blocks area. Lay the Teaching Picture nearby.
- Invite the children to build places to buy food. Talk about each sign. Most children will know the sign for a familiar place they eat or buy groceries.
- Point to the Teaching Picture and comment that God helped the woman have enough oil for her family.
- Pray, thanking God for providing what we need.
Kindergarten— Make Bread
Bible Story: A Widow’s Oil Multiplied 2 Kings 4:1-7
Life Point: God provides for His people.
Weekly Verse: God knows what you need. Matthew 6:8
Materials: Teaching Picture 11, refrigerated bread or pizza dough, plastic knives, butter, parchment paper squares, toaster oven
- Direct the kids to wash their hands before doing this activity.
- Give each child a small lump of bread dough on a parchment paper square. Lead them to flatten and stretch the dough with their hands until it is as flat as they can make it. Show the Teaching Picture and talk about the Bible story as children work.
- Pray, thanking God for helping us have what we need, such as food.
- After baking the bread in the toaster oven, serve each child his bread with butter.
