Use these statements to connect each session of Bible Studies for Life: Kids to Christ as you teach your children each week.
Unit 1, Session 1: John Told About Jesus
God gave John the Baptist a special job. John told people, “Get ready for Jesus! Jesus is coming!” God sent Jesus to earth from heaven. When Jesus was older, He went out to teach people about God. Jesus was here, and John’s job was finished.
Unit 1, Session 2: Jesus Chose Disciples
Jesus call the men to follow Him. Jesus knew He was going to teach the men about Himself, that He was God’s Son. The men spread the good news of Jesus to the world when Jesus went back to heaven.
Unit 1, Session 3: People Learn from Jesus
While Jesus was on earth, He taught people how they should pray. People learned from Jesus then, and people can still learn from Jesus today by reading and studying the Bible. Today, we read the Bible and learn from it to know about Jesus, God’s Son.
Unit 1, Session 4: People Praise Jesus
During Jesus’ triumphal entry, the people welcomed Him as King. Jesus was the Messiah spoken about by the prophet Zechariah: “Look, your King is coming to you; He is righteous and victorious, humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey” (Zechariah 9:9). One day, Jesus will return to earth on a white horse as King over everything. (Revelation 19:11)
Unit 2, Session 1: Crucifixion and Resurrection
The crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus is the center of the gospel. We deserve to die because of our sin, but Jesus died in our place. He was the blood sacrifice made once and for all for the forgiveness of sin. God was pleased with Jesus’ sacrifice and raised Jesus from the dead to reign as King over all creation. We are forgiven only through Jesus. (Acts 4:12)
Unit 2, Session 2: Jesus Taught Two Disciples
Jesus told the two men that the whole Bible is about Jesus. All along, God had a plan to send His Son to rescue people from sin. No matter what part of the Bible we read, it all points to what Jesus did for us in His living, dying, and coming alive again.
Unit 2, Session 3: Jesus Gave the Great Commission
Jesus told His friends to tell all people in all places about Him. Jesus’ friends could do this because Jesus is in charge of everything, and He promised He would be with them. When we follow Jesus, He promises to always be with us too. Jesus’ mission to His friends is our mission too. We are to tell people about Jesus so they can follow Him.
Unit 2, Session 4: Jesus Returned to Heaven
Jesus left earth and returned to heaven, but He did not leave us alone. Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit helps us do God’s work on earth while we wait for Jesus to come back and make everything new.
Unit 3, Session 1: God Gave the Commandments
God gave us the commandments to show that He is holy. Our sin keeps us away from God, but Jesus came to bring us back to Him. Jesus is holy; He never sinned. We can trust Him to forgive our sin.
Unit 3, Session 2: Jeremiah Wrote God’s Words
God chose Jeremiah before he was born to tell people what God said. God had also planned all along for His Son, Jesus, to show God’s love for people by dying on the cross. Jesus rescues people from sin.
Unit 3, Session 3: Josiah Learned from the Scroll
The Bible is powerful. When Josiah read the Bible, the people chose to do what it said. Today, we can learn about Jesus from the Bible. He helps us say no to doing wrong and He died to rescue us from sin.
Unit 3, Session 4: Ezra Read God’s Word
Ezra read from the Scripture to the people. The Bible helps us know the right things to do. We do wrong things a lot, but when we know and love Jesus, He helps us say no to sin. Jesus died to rescue us from sin.
Unit 3, Session 5: A Psalm About God’s Word
King David knew that God’s Word is truth and will last forever. Even today, people can trust the Bible and its message that if we trust Jesus, we can live eternally with God.
