Grades 1-3
Introductory Activity – Wiggle and Freeze
No materials needed.
Tell kids to spread throughout the game area. Tell them to wiggle in their space (not moving around the room). Say: “Freeze like a dancer!” All kids freeze into position. Say: “Wiggle!” Continue to call for kids to freeze as different people—drummer, baseball pitcher, chef, teacher, mother, baby. (Choose whatever positions you want; end with family member names.) Tell kids they will hear a Bible story about another family.

Game – Racing Review
Materials: yardstick, clothespins (1 per team), numbered cube, marker, cleaning wipes
Print a different number on each clothespin. Clip the clothespins to the end of the yardstick.
Group kids into teams. Ask a review question to Team 1. If the team answers correctly, lead a player to roll the cube and move the team’s clothespin that many spaces along the yardstick. Ask a review question to Team 2. Continue the game until a team’s clothespin reaches the end of the yardstick. Say the Bible verse. (Wipe the numbered cube after each use.)
Craft – Stick Puppets
Materials: white note cards, craft sticks, thin-lined markers, masking tape, scissors
Invite a child to draw a picture of a person on a note card. She can draw a picture of herself or someone in her family. When she finishes the person figure, she can cut out the figure and tape the figure to the stick. Lead kids to print the Life Point on the craft stick. Talk about the Bible story. Suggest kids use their puppets to play out family situations as they choose.
Grades 4-6
Introductory Activity – My Family Can
Materials: paper, pencils
Give paper and pencils to kids. Tell them to complete the sentence: “My family can _____.” Encourage them to list as many things as they can. Call for kids to come together. Ask for volunteers each to name one thing from their list. Ask other kids who listed that to clap, raise hands, or another gesture. Tell kids that their families can do many things. Today you will talk about something families should do.

Game – Bible Search
Materials: Bibles
Help kids find today’s Bible story in their Bibles. Ask a review question and lead kids to look in the Bible passage to find the answer. Each one should point in his Bible where the answer is located. No one can answer the question until everyone has found it in the Bible. Encourage kids to work together and assist one another as needed. Call on a volunteer to answer the question and read the verse where the answer is located. Ask another review question and start the search again. Remind kids that families should love and help one another.
Craft – Phone Case
Materials: paper (cut 4 inches by 10 inches), various colors of duct tape, scissors, rulers
permanent markers and stickers (optional)
Give each person a piece of the cut paper. Lead kids to cover one side of the paper with lengths of duct tape. Guide kids to slightly overlap each piece of duct tape over the previous one as they cover the sheet. When the side is covered with tape, guide them to flip over the paper and cover the other side, too. They can use the same tape or another color of tape for the second side (as they choose). Trim the excess tape from around the paper.
Guide a preteen to cut a length of tape about 5 inches. He can cut the strip in half lengthwise to have two thin strips of 5 inches. Lay a strip sticky side up and place one of the short ends of the phone case on the thin strip of tape. Fold the strip over to the other side. Repeat with the other thin strip of tape and the other short end of the case. Fold the case; bring one short end up about 4 inches. (There will be about 2 inches between the two short ends.) The kid can cut another length of tape about 9 inches and cut it in half lengthwise. Use these strips to cover the long sides of the case and to tape the sides closed. Kids can use permanent markers or stickers to decorate the case if you choose. Talk about the people that kids call on their phones. Talk about family members and how family members can love and help one another.
