Use these statements to connect each session of Bible Studies for Life: Kids to Christ as you teach your children each week.
Unit 1, Session 1: John Taught About Jesus
God gave John the Baptist a special job. John told people, “Get ready for Jesus! Jesus is coming!” God sent Jesus to earth from heaven. When Jesus was older, He went out to teach people about God. Jesus was here, and John’s job was finished.
Unit 1, Session 2: Philip Told About Jesus
The man from Ethiopia knew what the Bible said, but he did not know that the prophets were speaking about Jesus. The Holy Spirit led Philip to help the man understand the good news about Jesus and baptize him. Baptism reminds us that Jesus died and came back to life. People who know and love Jesus should be baptized too.
Unit 1, Session 3: Peter Wrote Letters
Some people wanted to hurt Christians for believing in Jesus. Peter wrote letters explaining that God is patient, and He wants people to trust in Jesus even when they are hurting.
Unit 1, Session 4: Paul Wrote to Philemon
Paul offered to pay Onesimus’s debt to make peace between him and Philemon. In this way, Paul acted like Jesus, who makes peace between God and man. Jesus took the punishment we deserve for our sin. He paid our debt so that we can be forgiven and welcomed by God.
Unit 1, Session 5: Paul Went to Rome
Paul trusted God’s promise to keep him and everyone else safe from the storm. He told the sailors to trust God too. God wants us to trust Jesus. Jesus died to keep us safe from sin and death. We can tell this good news to everyone.
Unit 2, Session 1: The Triumphal Entry
During Jesus’ triumphal entry, the people welcomed Him as King. Jesus was the Messiah spoken about by the prophet Zechariah: “Look, your King is coming to you; He is righteous and victorious, humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey” (Zechariah 9:9). One day, Jesus will return to earth on a white horse as King over everything. (Revelation 19:11)
Unit 2, Session 2: Jesus Had the Last Supper with His Disciples
Jesus loved and helped His friends and taught them to love and help one another. Jesus loved and helped us by doing for us what we could never do. Jesus is our King who died on the cross to rescue us from our sin.
Unit 2, Session 3: Jesus Is Alive
The crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus is the center of the gospel. We deserve to die because of our sin, but Jesus died in our place. He was the blood sacrifice made once and for all for the forgiveness of sin. God was pleased with Jesus’ sacrifice and raised Jesus from the dead to reign as King over all creation. We are forgiven only through Jesus. (Acts 4:12)
Unit 2, Session 4: Two Men on the Road to Emmaeus
Jesus told the two men that the whole Bible is about Jesus. All along, God had a plan to send His Son to rescue people from sin. No matter what part of the Bible we read, it all points to what Jesus did for us in His living, dying, and coming alive again.
Unit 3, Session 1: Hezekiah and the People Worshiped
Hezekiah led the people to return to worshiping the one, true God. The people gave sacrifices and thank offerings for God’s provision. Jesus, the Son of God, died on the cross and rose again to provide people a way to be saved from sin.
Unit 3, Session 2: Building the Tabernacle
God told the people of Israel to build a tabernacle, which was a place to meet together and worship God. As part of His plan to save people from sin, God sent Jesus to earth to meet with us. Now, we don’t have to go somewhere specific to worship. Because of Jesus, we can meet with God anywhere!
Unit 3, Session 3: A Widow Gave All She Had
God has provides everything we need. He gave us the greatest gift—His own Son. Jesus gave everything He had—even His very own life—to save us from sin. Because of Jesus, we can be kind and giving to others.
Unit 3, Session 4: People Prayed for Peter
God heard the prayers of the people. He had a plan for Peter, and He helped him escape from prison. Peter knew he might die because he believed in Jesus, but he wanted to share the good news about Jesus no matter what.
