Use these statements to connect each session of Bible Studies for Life: Kids to Christ as you teach your children each week.
Unit 1, Session 1: John Baptized People
John the Baptist had told people to get ready for Jesus, the promised Messiah. Now that Jesus was on earth, John’s mission was complete. John the Baptist joyfully stepped aside as Jesus began His earthly ministry.
Unit 1, Session 2: An Ethiopian Believed
The Ethiopian official knew what the Old Testament prophets had said, but he did not understand that the prophets spoke about Jesus. The Holy Spirit led Philip to help the official understand the good news about Jesus: Jesus died on the cross for our sins and was raised from the dead, just like the Old Testament prophets said.
Unit 1, Session 3: Peter Wrote Letters
Some people thought the believers were foolish for thinking Jesus is coming again. These people sometimes persecuted Christians for believing in Jesus. Through the Holy Spirit’s guidance, Peter wrote letters explaining that God is patient, and He wants believers to trust in Jesus even during persecution. At just the right time, Jesus will come again, and we look forward to the day when He creates the new heavens and a new earth.
Unit 1, Session 4: The Fruit of the Spirit
When Jesus died on the cross, rose from the dead, and ascended back to heaven, He sent the Holy Spirit to live within the hearts of Christians. Through the Holy Spirit’s power, people who are saved by Jesus become more like Him, and Jesus gives them power to say no to sin and to live in a way that pleases God.
Unit 1, Session 5: Paul Taught in Rome
Paul trusted God’s promise to keep him and everyone else safe from the storm. He told the sailors to trust God too. God wants us to trust Jesus. Jesus died to keep us safe from something much bigger than anything we might face on this earth: the punishment of sin and death. We can tell this good news to everyone.
Unit 2, Session 1: The Triumphal Entry
During Jesus’ triumphal entry, the people welcomed Him as King. Jesus was the Messiah spoken about by the prophet Zechariah: “Look, your King is coming to you; He is righteous and victorious, humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey” (Zechariah 9:9). One day, Jesus will return to earth on a white horse as King over everything. (Revelation 19:11)
Unit 2, Session 2: Jesus’ Last Supper with His Disciples
At the Passover, Jesus shared His last meal with the disciples before His death and resurrection. Jesus said that His death would establish a new covenant. God’s people had broken the old covenant, and God promised to make a new covenant to forgive sins. God forgives the sins of those who trust in His Son, Jesus.
Unit 2, Session 3: Crucifixion and Resurrection
The crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus is the center of the gospel. We deserve to die because of our sin, but Jesus died in our place. He was the blood sacrifice made once and for all for the forgiveness of sin. God was pleased with Jesus’ sacrifice and raised Jesus from the dead to reign as King over all creation. We are forgiven only through Jesus. (Acts 4:12)
Unit 2, Session 4: Two Men on the Road to Emmaeus
The whole Bible is about Jesus. When Adam and Eve sinned, God began working out His plan to send Jesus to rescue people from sin. All of the Old Testament points forward to Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection—the time when Jesus would bring God’s promised salvation for sinners.
Unit 3, Session 1: Hezekiah and the People Worshiped
Hezekiah led the people to return to worshiping the one, true God. The people gave sacrifices and thank offerings for God’s provision. Jesus, the Son of God, died on the cross and rose again to provide people a way to be saved from sin.
Unit 3, Session 2: Isaiah Responded to God
Isaiah had a vision of God’s glory and realized his own sin. God forgave Isaiah’s sin. Like Isaiah, when we see how holy God is, we see how sinful we are. God sent His Son, Jesus, to pay for our sin. We can find salvation only in Him.
Unit 3, Session 3: A Woman Gave All She Had
God has been merciful and generous to us. He gave us the greatest gift—His own Son. Jesus showed us what generosity looks like when He gave up His life to save us from sin. Because of Jesus, we can be merciful and generous to others.
Unit 3, Session 4: Paul Helped the Corinthian Church
Paul heard about the conflicts and disputes in the Corinthian church and wrote a letter to help them know what to do and how to live together in love. Christians can trust Jesus to help them know what to do and how to live when they read Scriptures and pray to Him.
