Parents, today’s Bible story taught that family members can work out differences. Abram and Lot decided to separate and go different ways in order to live peacefully.
“Among other functions, a family helps each person discover how to build relationships, find belonging and personal significance, and learn to live in broader social contexts. The family is a sharing social organization given to us by God, and therefore helps us grow closer to God as we help one another in building family.” You can read “Build Sound Families” here: https://www.lifeway.com/en/articles/build-sound-families
Our Daily Bible Reading reminds us of the importance the parents’ leadership in the family. Parents should teach their children through discipline and not incite anger. Read with us each day from the guide on the One Conversation page.
Take it Further: Check out “Abram Solved a Quarrel” in the Bible Studies for Life section of the Lifeway Kids app. Using games and activities, this FREE app allows your child to learn even more about each lesson.
The Christian life can be hard at times. Temptations abound and the world continually calls to us. We struggle to live lives of holiness and purity that honor God. Encouragement from fellow believers can be a great help in this struggle. It helps knowing that we are not alone in our struggles, that others wrestle with the same issues and difficulties we do.
Have you memorized our Unit Verse this month already? Take a walk around the block with your child and start a conversation about how it isn’t always easy to honor God through conflict, especially with family members. Remind them that God didn’t make a mistake with the family He gave each of us.
