Bible Story: The Antioch Church Helped Acts 11:19-29
Life Point: People at church give and help others.
Weekly Verse: Help one another in love. Galatians 5:13
Materials: construction paper, crayons, stickers, marker
- Fold construction paper to make a card. Print the Weekly Verse inside a card for each child.
- Give each preschooler a card and encourage him to design a card to give to a friend.
- Talk about the Bible story as preschoolers make their cards. Comment that the people at the church gave gifts to people who needed help.
- Tell the children that they can give their cards to people who are sick.
3–Pre-K—Haul Food

Materials: shoeboxes, play food and food containers, marker, blocks
- Use a marker to draw wheels on the sides of the shoeboxes. These will be the trucks used to haul food.
- Tell preschoolers that some places will talk large amounts of food to people who need it. Suggest they could use blocks to build places to haul food.
- Talk about the Bible story as children play. Comment that the people at the Antioch church gave gifts to help the church in Jerusalem.
Kindergarten—Sort Cans of Food

Materials: paper, markers, tape, cans of food from children, large basket or box, additional cans of food paper, markers, tape, cans of food from children, large basket or box, additional cans of food
- Early in the week, call families and ask them to send one or two cans of food to give to a local food charity or for your church’s food ministry. Ask teachers to bring several cans of different kinds of food also.
- Create signs for food categories (vegetables, meat, fruit, etc.). Tape the signs to the wall or floor for sorting. Lay the Bible nearby.
- Help kids read the category signs and place the cans they brought under or on the correct sign. Then mix the cans and let kids sort them as they choose.
- Tell the Bible story. Talk about the kinds of food the church may have sent to Jerusalem.
- Open the Bible to the Bible verse and say it with the kids.
- As the activity time ends, guide children to arrange the food into the basket or box. Thank children and teachers who brought food. Comment that your class can give to help hungry people like the church in the Bible story did.
