1s & 2s— Play with People Figures

Bible Story: People Prayed for Peter Acts 12:1-19
Life Point: People at church pray to God.
Weekly Verse: Pray for one another. James 5:16

Materials: Teaching Picture 13, vinyl or wooden people figures, cardboard blocks

• Display the teaching picture with the figures and blocks.
• Tell the Bible story as preschoolers play. Comment that the people knew Peter was in trouble and were asking God to help him. Say that people at church pray to God.
• Practice saying the Weekly Verse with the preschoolers.

3–Pre-K— Find Shoes

Materials: several pairs of shoes of different sizes and styles

• Hide one of each pair of shoes around the room. Place the other shoes together in one area of the room.
• Gather several children to play a game. Tell the children the Bible story. Say that people were together to pray for Peter in prison. 
• Remind the children that the angel told Peter to put on his shoes. Encourage the children to look around the room to find the hidden shoes. Tell them to bring them to the area and find their matches.
• When all the shoes have been found, say the Weekly Verse together.

Kindergarten— Make a Prayer Reminder

Materials: Teaching Picture 13, construction paper, straws, yarn or ribbon, markers, tape 

• Cut the construction paper in half to make 6-by-9-inch pieces. Tape a straw to the top of one short side of each paper. Thread a piece of yarn or ribbon through the straw to make a hanger for the reminder.
• Invite the children to make a prayer reminder. Suggest that they can draw pictures on the paper to make a small banner and add names of people to pray for. Be prepared to help with spelling, if needed.
• Talk about the Bible story as children work. Point to the people who are praying in the teaching picture. Comment that people at church pray to God. Say the Weekly Verse together.
