Bible Story: God Told Jeremiah What to Write Jeremiah 36
Life Point: The Bible is God’s Word.
Weekly Verse: The Word of God, the Bible, lasts forever. 1 Peter 1:25
Materials: Bibles of different sizes, large poster board, marker, paper strips
- Before the session trace around the outside of each Bible onto the poster board. Mark the Weekly Verse, 1 Peter 1:25, in each Bible using a paper strip. Lay the Bibles to the side of the poster.
- Invite preschoolers to match each Bible to its outline. Tell the children that the Bible has God’s words that were written down by people.
- Tell the Bible story as preschoolers continue to match Bible outlines. A child may like sitting in your lap turning the pages of the Bible.
- Open the Bible to the marked verse and read it.
3–Pre-K—Build with Alphabet Blocks

Materials: Teaching Picture 5, wooden blocks, alphabet blocks
- Display the teaching picture with the blocks.
- Invite children to build with the blocks. Talk about what they are building.
- Show the teaching picture and tell the Bible story. Tell children the king did not like the words that Jeremiah wrote down, but Jeremiah wrote the scroll again.
- Say the Weekly Verse. Lead the children to repeat the verse with you.
Kindergarten—Make a Letter Collage

Materials: Teaching Picture 5, letters, tray, glue sticks, paper, markers
- Before the session, cut letters out of newspapers and magazines. Or print letters on a computer. Use a variety of fonts and colors for the letters. Cut apart the letters and put them on a tray. Print the Weekly Verse, 1 Peter 1:25, onto paper for kids to copy.
- Invite boys and girls to copy the verse onto their papers. Then tell them they can glue letters on the paper.
- Tell the Bible story as kids glue. Emphasize that people wrote God’s words in the Bible and the Bible helps us know about God.
- Look at the teaching picture and wonder about why the king was putting the scroll into the fire. Say that God made sure that His words would last forever.
- Thank God for giving us the Bible.
