Bible Story: A Song About the Bible Psalm 119

Weekly Verse: God’s Word is true and will last forever. Psalm 119:160
Materials: Teaching Picture 13; empty round can or box; magazine pictures or photos of the Bible; glue (You can find many picture of different Bibles on the internet.)
- Glue the pictures to cover the box. Attach the lid with glue. You could add a few jingle bells inside the box before attaching the lid.
- Roll the box to a preschooler. Call attention to the pictures on the box. Say: “See the pictures of the Bible. The Bible is a special book. The Bible tells about God.”

Materials: Teaching Picture 13, white paper, white crayons, thinned dark paint, cups, paintbrushes, painting smocks
- Print the Weekly Verse on the white paper using a white crayon. Press hard and make the lines thick and dark. Display the Teaching Picture with the art supplies.
- Give each child a paper after she puts on a smock. Direct her to paint over the paper to reveal a message.
- Tell the Bible story as the children paint. Say that Psalm 119 is the longest chapter of the Bible and it is a song about the Bible.
- Read the verse together when children finish painting.
Kindergarten—Make Musical Instruments

Materials: Teaching Picture 13, Music, small wooden dowels, plastic beads, hot glue gun (teacher’s use)
- Use the glue gun and glue around one end of the dowels, about ½ inch from the end.
- Display the Teaching Picture with the other materials.
- Show the kids how to thread beads onto the sticks from the long end. They should cover the sticks about halfway. Each child should make two sticks.
- When a child has finished beading his sticks, the teacher can but another bead of hot glue around the bottom bead.
- Show the Teaching Picture and talk about the Bible story as children work. Comment that a psalm is a song or a poem.
- When everyone has finished their beads, play music and encourage the children to play their sticks.
