Preschool: Telling About Jesus: Session 3—Paul Listened to God (May 17)

1s & 2s— Make a Bible Marker

Bible Story: Paul Listened to God Acts 15:36–16:12
Life Point: God helps people tell about Jesus.
Weekly Verse: God helps me; I will not be afraid. Hebrews 13:6

Materials: Teaching Picture 12, 4-by-12-inch paper strips, colorful stickers, marker

  • Write the Weekly Verse on a strip for each preschooler. Display the teaching picture with the other materials.
  • Invite preschoolers to make a Bible marker by attaching stickers to their paper strips.
  • Tell the Bible story as preschoolers work. Point to Paul in the teaching picture. Comment that God helps people tell about Jesus. 

3–Pre-K—Pretend to Travel

Bible Story: Paul Listened to God Acts 15:36–16:12
Life Point: God helps people tell about Jesus.
Weekly Verse: God helps me; I will not be afraid. Hebrews 13:6

Materials: children’s chairs, paper plate cut into steering wheel shape, dress up clothes, small suitcase, Bibles, purses

  • Place all the items together in a corner of the room. 
  • As children show interest, ask in what ways people travel today (car, bus, plane, boat, train). Invite the children to pretend to travel someplace. Let them decide in what manner they want to travel and arrange the chairs accordingly. Encourage them to work together and take turns driving and packing.
  • Tell the Bible story as the children play. Tell the children they can tell about Jesus like Paul. Say that God helps people tell about Jesus.

Kindergarten— Play a Bible Verse Game

Bible Story: Paul Listened to God Acts 15:36–16:12
Life Point: God helps people tell about Jesus.
Weekly Verse: God helps me; I will not be afraid. Hebrews 13:6

Materials: Bible, index cards, pen or pencil

  • Write the Weekly Verse on index cards, one word per card. Make two sets.
  • Mix the cards and lay them facedown on a table or on the floor. Invite a child to play by turning over two cards to find matching words. Guide kids to take turns finding matches.
  • When all the matches have been found, separate the two sets. Encourage the kids to work together to put the words in order. Say the verse together several times.
  • Comment that  God helps people tell about Jesus.
