Preschool: Telling About Jesus: Session 1—Peter Preached About Jesus (May 3)

1s & 2s— Build a Church

Bible Story: Peter Preached About Jesus Acts 2:1-15,22-24,36-41
Life Point: God loves people and wants them to learn that Jesus is God’s Son.
Weekly Verse: Jesus is the Son of God. John 20:31

Materials: Bible, cardboard blocks

  • Talk about the Bible story as preschoolers stack the blocks.
  • Suggest that preschoolers could use the blocks to build a church.
  • Comment God loves people and wants them to learn that Jesus is God’s Son. 
  • Open the Bible to John 20:31 and say the Weekly Verse.

3–Pre-K— Use a Microphone

Bible Story: Peter Preached About Jesus Acts 2:1-15,22-24,36-41
Life Point: God loves people and wants them to learn that Jesus is God’s Son.
Weekly Verse: Jesus is the Son of God. John 20:31

Materials: Teaching Picture 10, toy microphone, recording device

  • Show the teaching picture to a child interested in the microphone. Talk about the Bible story as you point to certain parts of the picture.
  • Encourage her to use the microphone to say Weekly Verse. Comment that Peter talked to a large group of people, telling about Jesus, God’s Son.
  • Record children saying something they know about Jesus. Play the recording back for them.

Kindergarten—Make a Book

Bible Story: Peter Preached About Jesus Acts 2:1-15,22-24,36-41
Life Point: God loves people and wants them to learn that Jesus is God’s Son.
Weekly Verse: Jesus is the Son of God. John 20:31

Materials: paper, markers, stapler

  • Cut paper in half. Use a few pieces to print some statements about Jesus such as Jesus loves us, Jesus healed people, and Jesus is God’s Son.
  • Invite kindergartners to use the paper to write things they know about Jesus or draw pictures about Jesus. They can copy the statements you wrote, if they wish.
  • Talk about the Bible story as the kids work. Comment that God loves people and wants them to learn that Jesus is God’s Son.
  • When a child is finished, help him staple his pages together to make a book. Tell him he can use his book to tell others about Jesus.
