Preschool: Tell About Jesus: Session 5—Paul Wrote to Timothy (June 29)

1s & 2s — Match Bibles to Outlines

Bible Story: Paul Wrote to Timothy Acts 16:1-4; 2 Timothy 1:1-5; 3:14-17
Life Point: People can help others know more about Jesus.
Weekly Verse: Remember what I taught you about Jesus. 2 Timothy 1:13

Materials: Teaching Picture 5, 4 or 5 Bibles of different sizes, poster board, marker

  • Trace around each Bible onto the poster board. Lay the poster on the floor with the Bibles and the teaching picture.
  • Invite preschoolers to match each Bible to its outline. Point to each Bible and emphasize that even though these books look different, they are the same book—the Bible.
  • Point to the teaching picture. Comment that a man named Paul wrote a letter to Timothy; Paul told Timothy to use the Bible to help people know more about Jesus.

3–Pre-K — Play a Beanbag Game

Bible Story: Paul Wrote to Timothy Acts 16:1-4; 2 Timothy 1:1-5; 3:14-17
Life Point: People can help others know more about Jesus.
Weekly Verse: Remember what I taught you about Jesus. 2 Timothy 1:13

Materials: Bible (with pictures), four colors of construction paper, tape, marker, beanbag

  • Cut one 3-by-9-inch strip from each sheet of construction paper to make four 9-by-9-inch squares. Tape the four squares together to make a large square gameboard.
  • Place the strips in the Bible: one at 2 Timothy 1:13; one at 1 Timothy 6; one each at two pictures of Bible stories about Jesus. Lay the gameboard on the floor. Sit on the floor and hold the Bible.
  • As children show interest in the activity, invite them to listen to the Bible story.
  • Give one child the beanbag and encourage him to toss it onto the gameboard. Help him open the Bible to the matching strip. Read the verse, point to Timothy’s name, or talk about the stories. Say the Life Point with the children.

Kindergarten — Make a Word Rubbing

Life Point: People can help others know more about Jesus.
Weekly Verse: Remember what I taught you about Jesus. 2 Timothy 1:13

Materials: Teaching Picture 5, large foam letters to spell JESUS, paper, crayons with paper removed, markers, tape

  • Pray, thanking God for people who help others know about Jesus.
  • Print the Weekly Verse onto a sheet of paper. Tape the letters to the table. Display the teaching picture.
  • Tell the Bible story as kids join the activity. Comment Paul wrote a letter to Timothy; he told him to keep helping people learn about Jesus.
