Preschool: Tell About Jesus: Session 4—Paul and Silas Sang to God (May 24)

February 18, 2020 By William Summey Leave a Comment

1s & 2s— Make Bell Shakers

Bible Story: Paul and Silas Sang to God Acts 16:16-34
Life Point: People can tell about Jesus at all times.
Weekly Verse: Go and tell the good news about Jesus. Mark 16:15

Materials: Teaching Picture 13, small plastic bottles with lids, small jingle bells, glue, stickers, music

  • Display the Teaching Picture with the other materials.
  • Help a  preschooler put a few bells into a bottle. Monitor this carefully so children don’t put bells in their mouths.
  • Glue the lid and close it securely. Offer stickers for children to decorate the bottles.
  • Play music and encourage the children to shake their bottles to the music.
  • Show the Bible story picture and talk about Paul and Silas. Comment that God wants people to tell about Jesus at all times.

3–Pre-K— Draw to Music

Bible Story: Paul and Silas Sang to God Acts 16:16-34
Life Point: People can tell about Jesus at all times.
Weekly Verse: Go and tell the good news about Jesus. Mark 16:15

Materials: Teaching Picture 13, paper, markers or crayons, music

  • Display the Teaching Picture near the art materials.
  • Choose several selections of music with different styles and tempos.
  • Invite children to draw while the music plays. Tell them to listen to the music and draw how the music makes them feel.
  • Show the Teaching Picture and talk about Paul and Silas. Comment that Paul and Silas told about God while they were singing in prison.

Kindergarten— Make Musical Instruments

Bible Story: Paul and Silas Sang to God Acts 16:16-34
Life Point: People can tell about Jesus at all times.
Weekly Verse: Go and tell the good news about Jesus. Mark 16:15

Materials: Teaching Picture 13, small wooden dowels, plastic beads, hot glue gun (teacher’s use), music

  • Use the glue gun and glue around one end of the dowels, about 1 inch from the end.
  • Display the Teaching Picture with the other materials.
  • Show the kids how to thread beads onto the sticks from the long end. They should cover the sticks about halfway. Each child should make two sticks.
  • When a child has finished beading his sticks, the teacher can but another bead of hot glue around the bottom.
  • Show the Teaching Picture and talk about the Bible story as children work. Comment that Paul and Silas sang to tell about God, even when they were in prison.
  • When everyone has finished their beads, play music and encourage the children to play their sticks.
