Use these statements to connect each session of Bible Studies for Life: Kids to Christ as you teach your children each week.
Unit 1, Session 1: (B-PK) Jesus Read the Scroll; (K) Jesus Taught Nicodemus
B-PK: Long before Jesus was born, Isaiah the prophet talked about God’s plan to send Jesus to earth. Jesus would bring good news and help people who were hurting. Jesus read Isaiah’s words. Jesus said that He is the One God promised to send.
K: Nicodemus wanted life with God, but he could not do anything to earn it. Eternal life is a gift. God showed His love by sending His One and Only Son to rescue people from sin. Everyone who believes in Him receives God’s gift of eternal life through Jesus.
Unit 1, Session 2: Lydia Believed in Jesus
Lydia, the jailer, and many others believed in Jesus and were saved from their sin. Paul and Silas told everyone the same thing: “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved.”
Unit 1, Session 3: Paul helped a Friend
Paul offered to pay Onesimus’s debt to make peace between him and Philemon. In this way, Paul acted like Jesus, who makes peace between God and man. Jesus took the punishment we deserve for our sin. He paid our debt so that we can be forgiven and welcomed by God.
Unit 1, Session 4: Paul Traveled to Rome
Paul trusted God’s promise to keep him and everyone else safe from the storm. He told the sailors to trust God too. God wants us to trust Jesus. Jesus died to keep us safe from sin and death. We can tell this good news to everyone.
Unit 2, Session 1: God Created the World
Jesus is Lord over everything. Everything was created by Him and for Him. Jesus holds everything together. (Colossians 1:16-17)
Unit 2, Session 2: God Chose Joshua
God planned for Joshua to lead His people into the promised land. Joshua was not perfect, but his faithfulness reminds us of Jesus, who is perfect. Jesus obeyed the Father and trusted His plan to save people from their sins.
Unit 2, Session 3: A Widow Helped Elijah
Some people did not like Elijah, and they wanted to hurt him because he worshiped God. Elijah’s life reminds us of Jesus, the greatest Prophet. Jesus was hated and killed because He is God the Son.
Unit 2, Session 4: God Sent Jonah to Nineveh
God told Jonah to go to his enemies and tell them to stop sinning. Jonah did not want to go. Later, God sent His own Son, Jesus, to tell His enemies to stop sinning. Unlike Jonah, Jesus wanted to obey God. He died on the cross to save us from sin.
Unit 2, Session 5: Solomon and the People Worshiped God
God is holy. Only the priests could go into God’s special place in the temple, and they had to follow many rules because they were sinful. Jesus took away our sin when He died on the cross. When we know and love Jesus, we talk to God on our own.
Unit 3, Session 1: Ruth, Boaz, and Obed
Boaz helped his close relatives. Boaz was a family redeemer. He bought back what his relatives lost. Jesus is our Redeemer. He bought our salvation from sin by dying on the cross.
Unit 3, Session 2: Moses Spoke to Families
Moses shared that families can learn about God from one another and should love, respect, and help one another. Families should help one another know about Jesus. Jesus delivered God’s people from captivity to sin.
Unit 3, Session 3: Abram and Lot
Abraham worked to keep peace with Lot. In this way, Abraham acted like Jesus, who makes peace between God and man. Jesus took the punishment we deserve for our sin. He paid our debt so that we can be forgiven and welcomed by God.
Unit 3, Session 4: A Couple Helped Elisha
A wealthy couple saw that Elisha needed help to live and gave him exactly what he needed. We are like Elisha, and God saw that we needed help. We needed to be rescued from sin. He sent Jesus to rescue us from sin. We can show people God’s love by helping them.
