Preschool: Remember Jesus: Session 4—Two Men on the Road to Emmaus (April 27)

1s & 2s— Play with Toy Cars

Bible Story: Two Men on the Road to Emmaus Luke 24:13-35
Life Point: Jesus wants people to know about Him.
Weekly Verse: Jesus told the men what the Bible said. Luke 14:27

Materials: Teaching Picture 9, emergency vehicles, cardboard blocks

  • Lay the teaching picture near the blocks. 
  • As preschoolers play with the vehicles, talk about the Bible story. Say the men were walking down a road together.
  • Point to the teaching picture and say: “Jesus helped the two men know more about Him.” Say the Weekly Verse together.

3–Pre-K— Spell JESUS

Bible Story: Two Men on the Road to Emmaus Luke 24:13-35
Life Point: Jesus wants people to know about Him.
Weekly Verse: Jesus told the men what the Bible said. Luke 14:27

Materials: paper, marker, clear contact plastic, cotton balls, small bowl

  • Print JESUS in large letters on a paper. Attach the paper to a wall at children’s eye level. Attach a strip of clear contact plastic over the name, sticky side out. Put the cotton balls in a small bowl under the sign.
  • Call attention to Jesus’ name. Invite boys and girls to spell the name by sticking cotton balls on the plastic over the letters of the name.
  • Tell the Bible story as children spell. Comment that Jesus wants people to know about Him.

Kindergarten— Build a Block Maze

Bible Story: Two Men on the Road to Emmaus Luke 24:13-35
Life Point: Jesus wants people to know about Him.
Weekly Verse: Jesus taught the men from the Scriptures. Luke 14:27

Materials: Teaching Picture 9, wooden blocks, toy cars

  • Before the session use several blocks to build a simple maze. Place the cars and teaching picture nearby.
  • Show kids the maze and tell them they can drive cars through the maze. Challenge kids to make a more complicated maze through which they can drive the cars.
  • Talk about the Bible story as kids work. Comment that Jesus helped the two disciples know more about Him. Say the Weekly Verse together.
