Materials: Teaching Picture 10, flashlights

• Tape the teaching picture to the wall at a preschooler’s eye level.
• Show a preschooler how to shine the light on the picture taped to the wall.
• Talk about the Bible story as the preschooler shines the light.
• Say the Weekly Verse. Comment that we show love to God by talking to Him.

3s–Pre-K—Sponge Paint on People Shapes

Weekly Verse: God hears me when I pray. Psalm 66:19

Materials: Teaching Picture 10, large people shapes, paint in shallow pans, painting smocks, sponges cut into shapes, spring clothespins, safety pins

• Put a safety pin on one flat side of each sponge. Clip a clothespin onto to the safety pin. Cover the art table with newspaper. Display the teaching picture.
• Give each child a person shape. Show him how to dip the sponge in the paint and press it onto his shape.
• Talk about the Bible story as children paint. Point to the teaching picture and comment that people show love to God by praying to Him; God listened to Hannah’s prayer. Say the Weekly Verse together.

Kindergarten—Play a Card Game

Bible Story: Hannah Prayed 1 Samuel 1
Life Point: People show love to God by praying to Him.
Weekly Verse: God hears me when I pray. Psalm 66:19

Materials: Bible, index cards cut in half, pen

• On each half-index card, print a letter to spell the words Hannah, pray, God, and listen. Make two sets of cards. Print the words on cards, one word per card. 
• Give each child playing two cards. Stack the remaining cards on the table. Each child on his turn will take a card from the top of the stack. If he has two matching letters, he should lay those aside. The play moves to the next player and continues until all the letters are matched.
• When all the matches have been found, show each card, read it, and assist in finding the letters to spell the words. Tell the Bible story as you show, read, and spell each word.
• Tell kids they can show love to God by praying to Him. Say the Weekly Verse.
