Bible Story: People Prayed for Peter Acts 12:1-17
Life Point: People at church pray for others in the church, the community, and the world.
Weekly Verse: Pray for one another. James 5:16
Materials: Teaching Picture 8, vinyl or wooden people figures, cardboard blocks
- Display the teaching picture with the figures and blocks.
- Tell the Bible story as preschoolers play. Comment that the people knew Peter was in trouble and were asking God to help him. Say that people at church pray for others. Say the Weekly Verse.
3–Pre-K—Make a Prayer Reminder

Weekly Verse: Pray for one another. James 5:16
Materials: Teaching Picture 8, white and colored construction paper, pencils, markers, colorful stickers, scissors, glue
- Display the teaching picture with the other materials. Tell the Bible story as children arrive at the center. Point to the teaching picture of the people praying. Comment that the people knew Peter was in trouble and asked God to help him. Say that people at church pray for others in the church, the community, and the world.
- Give each child a piece of white paper. Help children trace around one hand and cut out the handprint. Then they can glue the handprint onto colored paper. Help them think of five people they could pray for and print each name onto one finger of the handprint. Children can decorate around their handprints using the stickers and markers.
- Tell the children to put the reminder in a place to help them remember to pray for the people named on their handprint.
Kindergarten— Make a Prayer Banner

Materials: Teaching Picture 8, 6-by-9-inch construction paper, straws, yarn, tape, markers
- Cut yarn into 18 inch lengths. Display the teaching picture with the other materials.
- Tell the Bible story as kids come to the center. Point to the teaching picture and tell kids that the people knew Peter needed help and asked God to help him. Say that people at church pray for others in the church, the community, and the world; kids can pray and ask God to help people, too.
- Give each child a piece of paper. Help him print the Weekly Verse at the top of the paper. Then he should think of names of people who need help and print them on the banner under the verse. Help with spelling as needed.
- When kids are finished printing, help them tape a straw to the top (short end) of their papers. They can thread a piece of yarn through the straw and tie the ends together. Tell kids to hang their banners somewhere to remind them to pray for people.
