Bible Story: Solomon and the People Worshiped 1 Kings 6; 8

Weekly Verse: Sing to God! 1 Chronicles 16:9
Materials: Teaching Picture 5; empty plastic water bottles with lids; rice, beans, small rocks, small jingle bells; hot glue gun
- Make four shakers using different materials in each. Put a small amount of material in the bottle. Use hot glue to attach the lid. Display the shakers and the teaching picture.
- As a preschooler uses a shaker, talk about the Bible story. Comment that people at church sing to God and worship Him. Say the Weekly Verse as the preschoolers make sounds.
3–Pre-K—Wave Scarves to Music

Materials: Teaching Picture 5, scarves, music
- Sit on the floor near the music with the scarves and the teaching picture.
- As children join you, tell the Bible story and show the teaching picture. Comment that people at church sing to God and worship Him.
- Give each child a scarf. Play a song and guide the children to wave scarves to the music. In between songs, say the Weekly Verse and encourage the children to repeat it.
Kindergarten—Paint to Music

Materials: Teaching Picture 5, music, paper, tempera cakes, cups of water, paintbrushes, painting smocks
- Before the session, print the Weekly Verse on the top of a paper for each child. Arrange the painting materials on a table. Place the teaching picture in the center of the table.
- As kids come to the table, point to the teaching picture and tell the Bible story. Comment that the people sang to praise God and thank Him. Say that people at church sing to God and worship Him. Point to the words on the paper and read them to the kids.
- Tell kids that you will play some music and they should paint how the music makes them feel. Play a worship song as kids paint. Remind kids that we can sing songs to God.
