Preschool: No One Is Like God: Session 1—God Helped Noah (October 2)

July 28, 2022 By Kimba Campbell 1 Comment

1s & 2s— Make a Bird Feeder

Bible Story: God Helped Noah Genesis 6:9–9:17
Life Point: God does things no one else can do.
Weekly Verse: God, You are great and no one is like You. 2 Samuel 7:22

Materials: Teaching Picture 5, yarn, O-shaped cereal, tape

  • Cut yarn into 12-inch lengths. Tape around one end to keep it from raveling. Tape the other end to a table.
  • Give a child a handful of cereal. Show him how to thread the cereal onto the yarn.
  • Tell the Bible story as children make their bird feeders. Comment that God sent a flood and cared for Noah and the animals; God did something no one else can do.
  • When a child is finished putting cereal onto her yarn, remove the tape from the table and tie the ends together. Tell her to hang it in a tree for the birds.

3–Pre-K— Make Cloud Paintings

Bible Story: God Helped Noah Genesis 6:9–9:17
Life Point: God does things no one else can do.
Weekly Verse: God, You are great and no one is like You. 2 Samuel 7:22

Materials: white paint, blue paper, spoons, painting smocks, marker

  • Put the paint in a cup. Fold the blue paper in half. Print the Weekly Verse across the bottom of each paper.
  • Help a preschooler put on a smock. Help her spoon a small amount of paint on one side of her paper, avoiding the verse. Fold the paper and press it from one side to the other.
  • When she opens her paper she will have a cloud picture. Comment that God saved Noah and the animals from the flood because God can do thing no one else can do.

Kindergarten—Make a Rainbow Collage

Bible Story: God Helped Noah Genesis 6:9–9:17
Life Point: God does things no one else can do.
Weekly Verse: God, You are great and no one is like You. 2 Samuel 7:22

Materials: Teaching Picture 5; rainbow colored small paper shapes and small pom-poms, paper plates; glue sticks; small bowls for each color

  • Place each color of shape or pom-pom in separate bowls. Cut the paper plates in half. Display the Teaching Picture on the art table.
  • When kids show interest in the activity, point to the Teaching Picture and tell the story. Ask kids to name what God put in the sky as a promise. (rainbow) Tell kids that God made the rainbow because He can do things no one else can do.
  • Invite each child to take a paper plate half and glue the colored items around the outside curve to make a rainbow. Talk about the colors of the rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple). Help the kids think of other things God can do that no one else can do.
  • If there is space, kids can print the Weekly Verse on the bottom part of the plate or on the back.
