Life Point: God hears people pray.
Weekly Verse: God hears my prayers. Psalm 66:19

Materials: Teaching Picture 9, cardboard box (large enough to hold Teaching Picture), peg type clothespins

  • Lay the Teaching Picture in the box, faceup. Cover the picture with the clothes pins.
  • Invite a preschooler to remove a clothespin and clip it on the side of the box.
  • As the picture is uncovered, talk about the Bible story. Comment that God hears people pray.

3–Pre-K— Make Door Hangers

Bible Story: God Called Moses Exodus 3:1–4:17
Life Point: God hears people pray.
Weekly Verse: God hears my prayers. Psalm 66:19

Materials: Teaching Picture 9, poster board, yarn, hole punch, markers, colorful shape stickers

  • Cut the poster board into 4-by-6-inch pieces. Print the Weekly Verse and Life Point onto each poster board piece. Display the Teaching Picture with the art materials.
  • Give each child a poster board piece. Explain that they can make a door hanger for their rooms. Read the words printed.
  • Lead kids to decorate their door hangers with markers and stickers. Help them punch a hole in each top corner and tie the ends of a piece of yarn into each hole.
  • Point to the Teaching Picture and talk about the Bible story. Thank God that He hears when people pray.

Kindergarten— Unscramble the Verse

Bible Story: God Called Moses Exodus 3:1–4:17
Life Point: God hears people pray.
Weekly Verse: God hears my prayers. Psalm 66:19

Materials: Bible, 2 sentence strips, marker, scissors, paper strip

  • Put the paper strip in the Bible at Psalm 66:19. Print the Weekly Verse onto each sentence strip. Cut apart the words of one strip. Then cut each word horizontally, dividing the top of the word from the bottom.
  • Lay the sentence strip and the word pieces on a table or the floor with the Bible. Encourage a child to reassemble the sentence puzzle. She may use the uncut strip for reference as needed.
  • Open the Bible and read the verse. Comment that God heard His people praying for help. Say that God hears our prayers, too.
