Kindergarten— Examine Maps
Bible Story: God Was with Jacob Genesis 28

Weekly Verse: God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

- Guide children to look at the maps and note roads, cities, bodies of water, and so forth.
- Provide a map of your town or area. Help them note places on the maps.
- Use the sticky notes to label locations. The children may enjoy following roads or rivers with the highlighting markers.
- Open the Bible to Joshua 1:9 and read the verse. Place a sticky note beside the verse.
- Talk about the Bible story and Jacob’s trip. Say that God told Jacob He would be with him wherever he went. Comment that God is with us wherever we go, too.
- Expand the activity: Provide scissors and glue sticks. Kindergartners could make collages with pieces of maps.

We received a leader pack and take-home papers, but no leader guide. I’m struggling with coming up with activities and figuring out how to use some of the pack items without the leader guide. I tried this website, but the lesson listed (God Was with Jacob) is not the same as the lesson associated with the Teaching Picture 6 from the pack (God Helped Isaac). I would really like to receive the leader guide, which I’ve been told for weeks is on backorder.
On another note, I really think the preschool lessons (stories) for the past few years have been too complicated for younger preschoolers. We try to simplify them the best we can.
Thank you! Dianne

I am sorry to hear that you have not received your leader guide. I can email you a pdf of the Leader Guide. What age group leader guides do you need: Babies, 1s & 2s, 3s-PreK, Kindergarten or Babies-5s? The God Was with Jacob teaching picture is Teaching Picture 7. I can email you the leaders guides that you need.
