Preschool: No One Else Is Like God: Session 1—Abram Listened to God (October 3)

1s & 2s— Walk on a Tape Path

Bible Story: Abram Listened to God Genesis 11:29-32; 12:1-9
Life Point: God knows everything you do.
Weekly Verse: God knows what I do and what I think. Psalm 139:2

Materials: Bible, Teaching Picture 5, masking tape

  • Use the masking tape to make a path on the floor that travels around the room. Place the Bible and Teaching Picture at different places on the path.
  • Lead two or three children on the path. When you come to the Bible, open it and say the Weekly Verse. When you come to the Teaching Picture, point to Abram and tell the Bible story.
  • Tell the children that Abram walked far to obey God.

3–Pre-K—Make a Handprint Mural

Bible Story: Abram Listened to God Genesis 11:29-32; 12:1-9
Life Point: God knows everything you do.
Weekly Verse: God knows what I do and what I think. Psalm 139:2

Materials: Bible, large sheet of paper, tape, marker, paint in pie pans, painting smocks, newspaper

  • Tape the paper to the wall at the children’s eye level. Set the paint on newspaper near the paper. Print the Weekly Verse, Psalm 139:2, across the top of the paper.
  • Help a child make her handprint with the paint onto the paper, then wash her hands. (If you do not have a sink, have a tub of soapy water and paper towels.) Print each child’s name on her handprint.
  • Talk about the Bible story as children paint. Open the  Bible and say the Weekly Verse.

Kindergarten— Make a Flag

Bible Story: Abram Listened to God Genesis 11:29-32; 12:1-9
Life Point: God knows everything you do.
Weekly Verse: God knows what I do and what I think. Psalm 139:2

Materials: Bible, 9-by-12-inch heavyweight paper, stickers of various shapes (stars, circles, squares, rectangles, triangles), markers, yarn, hole punch, labels with Weekly Verse, pictures of flags of other countries

  • Look at the pictures of the flags. Talk about the different kinds of designs each country has for its flag. Notice the shape and emblems used in the design of the flag.
  • Invite the children to design flags for their families. They can use stickers and markers.
  • Talk about the Bible story. Explain that Abram listened to God and moved to another land.
  • Give each child Weekly Verse sticker for his flag. Punch holes in the side and tie yarn through the holes.
