Kindergarten—Match Bible Verse Words

Bible Story: The Young Ruler’s Question Luke 18:18-23
Life Point: People should choose to love God.
Weekly Verse: Do what is right and good. Deuteronomy 6:18

Materials: Teaching Picture 8, index cards, pen,

  • Write the weekly verse index cards, one word per card. Make two sets and tape one set end to end to make a sentence strip. Lay the other set of cards facedown on a table or the floor. Display the teaching picture nearby.
  • Read the verse to an interested child. Point to teach word as you say it. Comment that the rich young ruler made a wrong choice because he loved his things more than Jesus. Show the teaching picture.
  • Invite children to take turns tossing a coin onto a card. The child can turn over that card and match it to the word on the strip. Continue until all the words are matched. Say the verse together.
  • Talk about choices that children make. Suggest some situations that might involve the children and help them discover the right choice to make.
