1s & 2s—Play with Toy Cars
Bible Story: A Kind Man Luke 10:25-37
Life Point: People can choose to help.
Weekly Verse: Do what is right and good. Deuteronomy 6:18
Materials: sturdy toy cars, cardboard blocks
- Invite boys and girls to roll the cars and build with blocks. Suggest they could build a road with the blocks and drive the cars on them.
- Talk about the Bible story. Comment that a kind man used his donkey to take the hurt man to get help. Say that people can choose to help.
3–Pre-K—Wash Dishes

Weekly Verse: Do what is right and good. Deuteronomy 6:18
Materials: towel, dishpan with water, dish drainer, sponge, dish towel, plastic dishes and cups
- Place the dishpan with water on a table on top of a large towel. Place the other items beside the dishpan.
- Invite preschoolers to wash the dishes. Talk about ways they help at home.
- Tell the Bible story. Comment that we can choose to help like the kind man helped the hurt man.
Kindergarten—Match Bible Verse Words
Bible Story: The Young Ruler’s Question Luke 18:18-23
Life Point: People should choose to love God.
Weekly Verse: Do what is right and good. Deuteronomy 6:18
Materials: Teaching Picture 8, index cards, pen,
- Write the weekly verse index cards, one word per card. Make two sets and tape one set end to end to make a sentence strip. Lay the other set of cards facedown on a table or the floor. Display the teaching picture nearby.
- Read the verse to an interested child. Point to teach word as you say it. Comment that the rich young ruler made a wrong choice because he loved his things more than Jesus. Show the teaching picture.
- Invite children to take turns tossing a coin onto a card. The child can turn over that card and match it to the word on the strip. Continue until all the words are matched. Say the verse together.
- Talk about choices that children make. Suggest some situations that might involve the children and help them discover the right choice to make.
