1s & 2s—Make a Picture Frame

Bible Story: Mary Showed Love to Jesus John 12:1-8
Life Point: People can choose to show love to Jesus.
Weekly Verse: I love you, Jesus. John 21:17

Materials: Teaching Picture 7, foam frames, stickers, photos of the children in your class, tape, adhesive magnets

• Plan to take pictures of the children and print them before the session. Display the Teaching Picture with the art materials.
• Give each preschooler a frame and encourage him to decorate it with the stickers. Explain that he is making a gift for his parents. Tape his photo to the frame. Assist in attaching the magnets to the back of the frame.
• Point to the Teaching Picture. Comment that Mary gave a gift and giving to others shows love for Jesus.

3–Pre-K—Make a Banner

Materials: Teaching Picture 7, 12-by-18-inch white construction paper, crayons, washable markers

• Cut the paper in half to make 6-by-18-inch pieces. Print the Weekly Verse in the center of a paper for each child. Display the Teaching Picture with the art materials.
• Read the verse as you give each child a paper. Invite the children to decorate their papers with the crayons and markers.
• Show the Teaching Picture as you tell the Bible story while the children draw. Comment that Mary showed her love to Jesus with her gift of perfume and washing His feet. Tell kids they can show love to Jesus by obeying God and learning more about Jesus.

Kindergarten—Dot Paint Jesus’ Name

Materials: Teaching Picture 7, 12-by-18-inch sheets of construction paper, marker, dot markers

• Print JESUS large enough to fill a sheet of construction paper. For each child.
• Invite kindergartners to decorate the name JESUS. Ask the children to tell you something they remember about Jesus while they are working.
• Point to the Teaching Picture and help the boys and girls remember what happened in the Bible story. Say a simple prayer thanking God for Jesus; ask God to help the boys and girls show their love for Jesus.
