1s & 2s—Clip Clothespins
Bible Story: Gideon Obeyed God Judges 6:11-40; 7:1-22
Life Point: People can choose to obey God.
Weekly Verse: We will obey God. Joshua 24:24
Materials: Teaching Picture 5, cardboard box, peg-type clothespins
- Lay the Teaching Picture in the box. Spread the clothespins on top of the picture.
- Invite a preschooler to clip the clothespins onto the sides of the box. Talk about the Bible story as she reveals the picture.
- Point to Gideon and comment that Gideon chose to obey God; people can choose to obey God. Say the Bible verse with each preschooler.
3–Pre-K— Make a Bible Marker

Materials: Teaching Picture 5, 3-by-9-inch strips of construction paper, labels printed with the Weekly verse, colorful stickers
- As boys and girls show interest in the activity, show the Teaching Picture and talk about the Bible story.
- Invite the boys and girls to make Bible markers. Give each child a paper strip and a Bible verse label. Encourage him to decorate his marker with the stickers.
- Remark that Gideon listened and obeyed God. Say the Weekly Verse together with the children. Pray, asking God to help children to choose to obey Him.
Kindergarten—Spell Bible Story Words

Materials: magnet letters, index card, marker, magnetic surface
- Print the following words on separate index cards: Gideon, angel, trumpet, torch, pitcher. Display the cards with the magnetic surface and the letters.
- When a child shows interest in the letters, read the words and talk about how they are used in the Bible story. Say the Weekly Verse together.
- Comment that Gideon chose to obey God. Tell kids they can choose to obey God, too. Pray, asking God to help kids obey Him.
