1s & 2s—Fold Washcloths
Bible Story: David Helped Mephibosheth 2 Samuel 4:4; 9

Weekly Verse: Be kind to one another. Ephesians 4:32
Materials: Teaching Picture 12, small laundry basket, several clean washcloths
- Place the washcloths in the basket. Lay the teaching picture near the basket.
- Encourage a preschooler to fold the washcloths when she shows interest in the basket. Talk about the Bible story as she works. Comment that David showed love for Mephibosheth by helping him.
- Say the Weekly Verse. Tell the kids they can love and be kind by helping their parents.
3–Pre-K—Taste Bible Times Food

Weekly Verse: Be kind to one another. Ephesians 4:32
Materials: Teaching Picture 12, mild cheese, grapes, pita or flat bread, large plate or platter, napkins, small paper plates, “Allergy Alert” (Printables)
- Cut the cheese into cubes, cut the grapes in half, and cut the pita into small pieces. Place all the food on a platter. Print the items to be tasted on a sign and post it on the door to inform parents of the activity. Display the teaching picture with the food.
- Invite a few children at a time to taste the food. Show the picture and talk about the Bible story as they eat. Comment that David and Mephibosheth might have eaten some foods like this.
- Say the Weekly Verse. Comment that every person can choose to love and be kind. David was kind to Mephibosheth by caring for him.
Kindergarten—Spell Names

Materials: Teaching Picture 12, letter stamps, washable stamp pads, paper, index cards, marker
- Remind the kids that they can choose to love and be kind. Ask them to name ways to be kind to their friends. Say the Weekly Verse together.
- Print onto the index cards the names David and Mephibosheth. You could also print the names of the kindergartners in your class. Place the teaching picture with the other materials.
- Encourage children to stamp the names from the Bible story or their friends’ names.
- Talk about the Bible story. Point to the teaching picture and help the kindergartners recall the story.
