1s & 2s—Make a House Collage

Bible Story: A Couple Helped Elisha 2 Kings 4:8-17
Life Point: Families can help others.
Weekly Verse: Love one another. 1 John 4:7

Materials: Teaching Picture 13, manila paper, pictures of furniture and other house items cut from catalogs, glue sticks, marker

• Cut each paper into a house shape. Print the Weekly Verse at the top of a page for each preschooler.
• Give each preschooler a house-shaped paper and a glue stick. Point to the words on the paper and say the verse. Encourage him to choose items to glue onto his house.
• Comment that a family helped Elisha by building a room onto their house. Show the Teaching Picture and point to each person. Say that families can help others. 

3–Pre-K— Make and Share a Snack

Weekly Verse: Love one another. 1 John 4:7

Materials: Teaching Picture 13; ingredients for snack mix such as small pretzels, O-shaped cereal; raisins, candy-coated chocolates, mini marshmallows; bowls; spoons; snack-sized ziplock bags; permanent marker

• Pour each ingredient into a separate bowl and add a spoon. Invite children to wash their hands and then make a snack to share with a friend. 
• Print a child’s name on two bags. Tell the Bible story as the children spoon ingredients into bags. Remind the children that the couple would invite Elisha to eat with them as he traveled through their town.
• As children finish making their snack, ask with whom each child will share her snack.
• Show the Teaching Picture and point to Elisha and the couple.

Kindergarten— Play with Doll House Furniture

Materials: Teaching Picture 13, simple doll house furniture, wooden blocks

• Display the Teaching Picture near the blocks and furniture. 
• As kids come to the center, point to the Teaching Picture and talk about the Bible story. 
• Comment that kids can build rooms with the blocks and add furniture to the rooms. 
• Help kids remember what furniture the people put in Elisha’s room.
• Say the Weekly Verse and the Life Point with the kids. Ask kids how their families help others.
