Preschool: Love and Obey God: Session 4—A Woman Obeyed (September 24)

1s & 2s— Pour Water

Bible Story: A Woman Obeyed 2 Kings 4:1-7
Life Point: People show love to God when they do what He says.
Weekly Verse: We show love to God by obeying Him. 1 John 5:3

Materials: Teaching Picture 4, gallon-size ziplock bag, plastic dishpan or storage container, drop cloth, towel, assorted cups

• Put a few inches of water in the dishpan or container. Place the dishpan on the drop cloth on the floor. Place the Teaching Picture in the ziplock bag to keep it dry. Add the cups to the water. Keep the towel nearby to dry spills,
• Invite preschoolers to pour the water. Tell the Bible story as preschoolers pour the water. Point to the woman pouring oil in the teaching picture.
• Tell preschoolers that Elisha and the woman showed love to God by doing what God said to do. Say the Weekly Verse.

3–Pre-K— Make a Brushed Oil Picture

Materials: Teaching Picture 4, manila paper, crayons, cooking oil, small bowls, paintbrushes

• Display the teaching picture with the art materials. 
• Tell the Bible story as kids draw with crayons. Point to the woman in the teaching picture. Tell kids that the woman and Elisha showed love to God by doing what He said. 
• After a child has finished drawing, allow him to brush oil over his picture. 

Kindergarten— Outline a Word

Bible Story: A Woman Obeyed 2 Kings 4:1-7
Life Point: People show love to God when they do what He says.
Weekly Verse: We show love to God by obeying Him. 1 John 5:3

Materials: Teaching Picture 4, wooden blocks, small cube blocks, bottle lids masking tape

• Use masking tape to make the word obey on the floor. Put the small blocks and lids in containers near the word. Display the teaching picture.
• Point to the word as kids show interest in the activity. Tell kids that obey means to do what God says. 
• Show the teaching picture and comment that the woman listened to Elisha and did what God said to do. Say that the woman and Elisha showed love for God by obeying.
• Ask kids how they do what God says to do.
