1s & 2s— Trace and Decorate Hands
Bible Story: Deborah Followed God’s Plan Judges 4:1-6,23-24
Life Point: People obey God when they do what He says.
Weekly Verse: Love God and always do what He says. Deuteronomy 30:20
Materials: Teaching Picture 2, paper, pencil, crayons
- Before the session, print Obey God across the top of each paper.
- Trace around a preschooler’s hands onto a paper. Encourage her to decorate her hands with the crayons.
- Show the teaching picture and talk about the Bible story as preschoolers draw. Point to and say the words on the paper. Comment that people obey God when they do what He says.
3–Pre-K— Paint a Resist

Materials: Teaching Picture 2, white construction paper, white crayons, thinned blue paint, paintbrushes, painting smocks
- Before the session, use a white crayon to print the Weekly Verse across the top of each paper. Print the words with heavy lines.
- Help a child put on a smock before painting. Tell him you have written a secret message across the top of his paper. Encourage him to use a white crayon to add a design to the bottom part of his paper. Tell him to make the lines heavy.
- After a child is finished drawing, he can paint over his whole paper with the thin paint to reveal the message and his drawing.
- Show the teaching picture and talk about the Bible story as children draw and paint. Read the message at the top of the page. Say Deborah obeyed God.
Kindergarten— Make Verse Puzzles

Materials: Teaching Picture 2, paper plates, markers, scissors, sandwich-size ziplock bags
- Print the Weekly Verse on a paper plate for kids to copy. Display the teaching picture and the verse on the table with the other materials.
- Tell the Bible story as kids come to the center. Point to Deborah in the teaching picture. Tell kids that Deborah obeyed God.
- Invite kids to copy the Weekly Verse onto a paper plate. If they wish, they can also decorate their plates. Guide them to cut their plates into pieces to make a puzzle.
- After working her puzzle, a child can store it in a ziplock bag to take home.
