Preschool: Jesus, the Great Teacher: Session 2—Jesus Taught About God’s Care (March 8)

1s & 2s—Eat a Snack

Bible Story: Jesus Taught About God’s Care Matthew 6:25-34
Life Point: Jesus taught about God’s care.
Weekly Verse: God knows what you need. Matthew 6:8

Materials: Bible, crackers, water, cups, napkins, Allergy Alert (CD)

  • Invite a few children to sit with you at a table. Give each child two crackers and a cup of water.
  • Talk about the Bible story as children enjoy the snack. Open the Bible to Matthew 14 and say the Weekly Verse. Comment that God cares for us by giving us food to eat.
  • Pray briefly, thanking God for the snack.

3–Pre-K—Play with Emergency Vehicles

Weekly Verse: God knows what you need. Matthew 6:8

Materials: Bible, wooden blocks, emergency vehicles

  • Place the vehicles with the blocks. Encourage the children to build a hospital and use the emergency vehicles to enhance their play.
  • As the children play, tell the Bible story. Open the Bible and say the Weekly Verse. Tell the children that God knows everything they need. Help each child open the Bible and say the verse with you.
  • Talk about times they may have seen a police car, fire truck, or ambulance. Remind the boys and girls that they can pray and ask God for help.

Kindergarten—Spell Bible Story Words

Materials: Bible, clip-style clothespins, small basket, index cards, permanent marker

  • Print several words from the Bible story onto separate index cards. Print the words in capital letters. Print the individual letters from the words on separate clothespins. Place the clothespins in a basket and arrange the cards near the basket.
  • Invite a child to choose a clothespin from the basket and clip it onto its matching word. When a word is completed, talk about how that word relates to the Bible story. Open the Bible and show the Book of Matthew. Suggested words: worry, teach, birds, flowers
