Weekly Verse: Jesus said, “Love other people.” Mark 12:31
Materials: Bible, Teaching Picture 2, simple puzzles about Jesus, paper strip
- Place a paper strip in the Bible at Mark 12:31. Lay the Bible, teaching picture, and puzzles on the floor.
- Hold the Bible and talk about the Bible story as the preschoolers work puzzles. Point to Jesus in the teaching picture. Comment that Jesus taught that people should love one another.
- Open the Bible and say the Weekly Verse. Help each child put her finger on the verse in the Bible.
3–Pre-K—Make Bible Bookmarks

Weekly Verse: Jesus said, “Love other people.” Mark 12:31
Materials: Bible, heavyweight paper, colorful ribbon, simple colored shape stickers
- Cut paper in wide strips and write the Weekly Verse on each strip, leaving space for preschoolers to decorate the bookmarks. Cut lengths of colored ribbon.
- Read the verse to a child and say: “These words are in the Bible.” Open the Bible and point to Mark 12:31. Explain: “Jesus wants people to love one another. You can decorate a bookmark to help you remember to love others.”
- When a child finishes his bookmark, he can choose ribbon to thread through a hole punched on the left end. Assist with tying the ribbon to secure it.
Kindergarten—Make a Card for a Friend

Materials: Bible; index cards with words Love one another; assorted colors of copy paper; washable markers; plain stickers; glue sticks; child-size scissors; envelopes
- Invite a child to make a card to give to someone he loves. Encourage him to copy the words from the card onto his paper.
- Open the Bible and talk about the Bible story. Say that Jesus was teaching His disciples that they should love one another.
- Help kids place their cards in envelopes and write the names on the outside of it.
