1s & 2s—Make a Tape Picture

Bible Story: Jesus Talked with the Teachers Luke 2:41-52
Life Point: Jesus grew and learned about God.
Weekly Verse: Jesus listened to the teachers and asked questions. Luke 2:46

Materials: colored masking tape or colorful washi tape, scissors, paper, marker

• Print the Weekly Bible Verse across the top of a paper for each preschooler. Cut short lengths of tape and stick them onto the edge of the art table.
• Invite preschoolers to stick pieces of tape onto their papers. Tell the Bible story as preschoolers work on their pictures.
• Read aloud the verse at the top of the paper. Tell preschoolers that Jesus grew and learned about God. Comment that preschoolers are growing and learning, too.

3–Pre-K—Make a Class Banner

Materials: Teaching Picture 1, long sheet of art paper, tape, markers, crayons, shape stickers

• Print the Weekly Bible Verse in the center of the paper. Tape the paper to a table or the floor. 
• Invite boys and girls to decorate the banner with the verse. Read the verse and say it with the children. Show the teaching picture and tell the Bible story as they decorate.
• Say the verse again with the children. Explain that Jesus was growing and learning about God, and they are growing and learning about God.
• Display the banner in the classroom or hallway.

Kindergarten—Find Words in the Bible

Weekly Verse: Jesus listened to the teachers and asked questions. Luke 2:46

Materials: Bibles, magnifying glasses, index cards, marker

• On separate index cards print the following words, one word per card: Jerusalem, Passover, temple, teachers, feast. Open the Bibles to Luke 2:41-52. Lay the cards and magnifying glasses with the Bibles.
• Tell the Bible story as kids show interest in the activity. Point to each word card and read it with the child. 
• Point out where the Bible story is located in the Bible. Encourage kids to look in the Bible to find the words printed on the cards. Comment that the kids are growing and learning new things, just as Jesus grew. Say the Weekly Verse together.
