Preschool: Jesus Loves Me/Jesus Is Alive: Session 3—Jesus Said, “Go” (April 18)

1s & 2s— Clip Clothespins

Bible Story: Jesus Said, “Go” Matthew 28:16-20
Life Point: Tell people that Jesus is God’s Son.
Weekly Verse: God sent His only Son, Jesus. 1 John 4:9

Materials: Bible, Teaching Picture 7, cardboard box (large enough to hold Teaching Picture), peg-type clothespins

  • Lay the Teaching Picture in the box, faceup. Cover the picture with the clothes pins.
  • Invite a preschooler to remove a clothespin and clip it on the side of the box.
  • As the picture is uncovered, talk about the Bible story. Say that Jesus is God’s Son.

3–Pre-K— Make a Face Collage

Bible Story: Jesus Said, “Go” Matthew 28:16-20
Life Point: Jesus is God’s Son.
Weekly Verse: God sent His only Son, Jesus. 1 John 4:9

Materials: Teaching Picture 7, faces cut from magazines, glue sticks, paper, marker

  • At the top of each paper, print the Weekly Verse.
  • Display the Teaching Picture with the other supplies.
  • Invite preschoolers to make a collage with the faces.
  • Show the Teaching Picture and talk about the Bible story. Comment that sent Jesus so people could love Him.
  • Lead each child to name one person he could tell that Jesus is God’s Son.

Kindergarten— Use Communication Tools

Bible Story: Jesus Said, “Go” Matthew 28:16-20
Life Point: Jesus is God’s Son.
Weekly Verse: God sent His only Son, Jesus. 1 John 4:9

Materials: Teaching Picture 7, old telephones or cell phones, computer keyboard or old laptop computer, paper, envelopes, gel pens

  • Show the Teaching Picture as kindergartners show interest in the center. Comment that Jesus told His disciples to go and tell people that He is God’s Son.
  • As kindergartners investigate the items, discuss how each could be used to tell people that Jesus is God’s Son.
