Preschool: Jesus Loves Me/Jesus Is Alive: Session 2—Jesus Taught Two Men (April 11)

1s & 2s—Play with Toy Vehicles

Bible Story: Jesus Taught Two Men Luke 24:13-35
Life Point: Jesus taught others what the Bible said.
Weekly Verse: Jesus told the men what the Bible said. Luke 24:27

Materials: Teaching Picture 6, sturdy toy vehicles, cardboard blocks

  • Lay the Teaching Picture near the blocks.
  • As preschoolers play with the vehicles, tell the Bible story. Comment that Jesus walk down a road with two men.
  • Point to the Teaching Picture and comment: “Jesus told the men what the Bible said.”

3–Pre-K— Walk on a Block Pathway

Bible Story: Jesus Taught Two Men Luke 24:13-35
Life Point: Jesus taught others what the Bible said.
Weekly Verse: Jesus told the men what the Bible said. Luke 24:27

Materials: Teaching Picture 6, cardboard or wooden blocks

  • Before the session make a pathway of wooden blocks. Place the Teaching Picture at the end of the pathway.
  • Challenge preschoolers to walk on the pathway. Comment that two men were walking down a road when they saw Jesus.
  • At the end of the path, point to the Teaching Picture and give a few more facts about the Bible story. Say that Jesus taught the men what the Bible said.

Kindergarten— Build a Block Maze

Bible Story: Jesus Taught Two Men Luke 24:13-35
Life Point: Jesus taught others what the Bible said.
Weekly Verse: Jesus taught the men from the Scriptures. Luke 24:27

Materials: Teaching Picture 6, wooden blocks, toy cars

  • Before the session use several blocks to build a simple maze. Place the cars and Teaching Picture nearby.
  • Show kids the maze and tell them they can drive cars through the maze. Challenge kids to make a more complicated maze through which they can drive the cars.
  • Talk about the Bible story as kids work. Say: “Jesus met two disciples while walking down a road. The men were going to a town called Emmaus. Jesus told the men what the Bible said about Him.”
