Bible Story: Jesus Fed the People John 6:1-13
Life Point: Jesus helped people.
Weekly Verse: Jesus gave food to people. John 6:11
Materials: Bible, “Allergy Alert” (Printables), frozen waffles or pancakes, toaster oven, jelly, plastic spoons, paper plates, hand cleaner
- Post an allergy alert listing what you will be eating. Toast the waffles or pancakes out of reach of the children.
- Give a child a spoon to spread jelly on a waffle. Cut the waffle into small pieces. Say a prayer of thanks for the food.
- Open the Bible to John 6 as you tell the story. Tell the children that Jesus helped people.
3–Pre-K—Step Out the Bible Verse
Bible Story: Jesus Is Alive John 20:1-18
Life Point: Jesus is alive!
Weekly Verse: Jesus is alive. Matthew 28:7
Materials: Teaching Picture 6, paper, tape, Option: Giant Game Floor Mat®
- Print each word of the Weekly Verse onto separate sheets of paper. Tape the papers to the floor in a path. Place the Teaching Picture at the end of the path. (Option: Place the papers randomly in the Giant Game Floor Mat®.)
- Invite a child to step on each word. Say each word as he steps on it.
- At the end of the path, point out the Teaching Picture and talk briefly about the Bible story.
Kindergarten—Make Jesus’ Name Designs
Bible Story: Jesus Is Alive John 20:1-18
Life Point: Jesus is alive!
Weekly Verse: Jesus is alive. Matthew 28:7
Materials: Teaching Picture 13, paper, marker, clear contact plastic, colored tissue paper cut into small pieces
- Print JESUS in large letters on several sheets of paper. Cut the contact plastic slightly larger that the paper. Tape the contact plastic to the table, sticky side out, with the paper underneath. Kindergartners should be able to see Jesus’ name through the plastic.
- Invite kids to decorate Jesus’ name by sticking pieces of tissue paper over the letters. Explain that they will not be able to see the printed letters, but will have the shape of the letters from the tissue paper.
- Talk about the Bible story as children work. Show the Teaching Picture.
- When a child is finished, help her place another piece of contact plastic over her tissue paper letters.
