Bible Story: Jesus Calmed a Storm Mark 4:35-41
Life Point: Jesus is powerful.
Weekly Verse: The wind and the sea obey Jesus. Matthew 8:27

Materials: Teaching Picture 11, lazy Susan, paper, crayons

• Cut paper in circles to fit the lazy Susan. Print the Weekly Verse in the center of each paper. Invite a preschooler to draw on the paper as you slowly spin the lazy Susan.
• Talk about the Bible story. Show the teaching picture. Remark that Jesus’ friends were scared, but Jesus stopped the storm. Say that Jesus is powerful.
• Point to the words on the paper. Read aloud the verse. 

3–Pre-K—Build on a Boat Shape

Weekly Verse: The wind and the sea obey Jesus. Matthew 8:27

Materials: Teaching Picture 11, wooden blocks, masking tape

• Tape a boat outline on the floor of the block area. Display the teaching picture near the blocks.
• Invite preschoolers to build on the boat shape. Comment that today’s story takes place in a boat. Show the teaching picture and continue telling the Bible story.
• Tell the children that the disciples were afraid in the storm, but Jesus stopped the storm. Say the Weekly Verse together.  Tell the preschoolers that Jesus is powerful.

Kindergarten— Play a Beanbag Toss Game

Bible Story: Jesus Calmed a Storm Mark 4:35-41
Life Point: Jesus is powerful.
Weekly Verse: The wind and the sea obey Jesus. Matthew 8:27

Materials: paper, marker, tape, beanbag, Giant Game Floormat (optional)

• Write the letters of Jesus’ name onto paper, one letter per paper. Print the letters large enough to fill the paper. Make at least two sets of letters.
• Tape the letters in a random grid on the floor. Or insert the letters into the pockets of the Giant Game Floormat. (Blank spaces are okay.)
• When a kindergartner shows interest in the game, talk about the story. Give him the beanbag and encourage him to toss the beanbag onto the first letter of Jesus’ name.
• Challenge him to toss the beanbag on the letters of Jesus’ name in order. 
• After a child has spelled the name, say the Weekly Verse. Comment that Jesus was special and He was very powerful.
